Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

The Quraan was bestowed upon our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a guideline for the whole mankind. It was revealed to the Prophet 1400 years ago. Yet, it contains scientific facts that are only recently discovered by scientists today. It merely shows that Quraan was not authored by a human being but has been directly sent from God. Among many of the stated scientific facts we present only a few briefly which encourages the reader to think and seek the truth.

The Quraan on Embryonic Development:

The specific time table for embryonic development before forty days was not available during the time of the prophet 1400 years ago. Yet the Quraan states

We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance)... 1 (Quran, 23:12-14)

The narration of Muslim on the authority of Ibn Mas'ud (A.S.), "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who is truthful, the believed, said to us:

{In every one of you, all components of your creation are collected together in your mother's womb by forty days...}

{If forty-two nights have passed over the embryo, God sends an angel to it, who shapes it and creates its hearing, vision, skin, flesh, and bones....}

How can the Quraan during that time with limited human know-how can detail the inside of the womb during various stages of pregnancy.

The Quraan on Mountains:

Have We not made the earth as a bed, and the mountains as pegs? (Quran, 78:6-7)

And He has set firm mountains in the earth so that it would not shake with you... (Quran, 16:15)

During the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) time how could humans know that mountains have deep extended roots and only part of it is visible on the surface of the earth?

In the book Earth Professor Emeritus Frank Press states that mountains have underlying roots that are deeply embedded in the ground and thus mountains have a shape like a peg. They also play an important role in stabilizing the crust of the earth that stops the shaking of the earth.

The Quraan on Origin of the Universe:

Only recently after the study of modern cosmology states that at one point in time the whole universe was in a dense and hot gaseous state. The stars we see at night are one of those 'smoke materials'. The Quraan states

Then He turned to the heaven when it was smoke... (Quran, 41:11)

Since all the planets, starts and galaxies are made out of smoke and was a single entity and out of this entity they were separated from each other.

Have not those who disbelieved known that the heavens and the earth were one connected entity, then We separated them?... (Quran, 21:30)

The Quraan on the Cerebrum:

No! If he does not stop, We will take him by the naseyah (front of the head), a lying, sinful naseyah (front of the head)! (Quran, 96:15-16)

The book entitled "Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology" states that the prefrontal area of the cerebrum is used for motivation, foresight to plan and initiate movements. It is also known as the functional area for aggression. [cite]

The Quraan on Seas and Rivers:

Modern science understanding of oceans tells us that locations where two seas meet there remains a barrier between them so that each sea has its own temperature, salinity and density. However large such seas are they do not cross or transgress this barrier. The Quraan states:

He has set free the two seas meeting together. There is a barrier between them. They do not transgress. (Quran, 55:19-20)

Quraan also state about the divider between fresh and salt water, there exist such a barrier.

He is the one who has set free the two kinds of water, one sweet and palatable, and the other salty and bitter. And He has made between them a barrier and a forbidding partition. (Quran, 25:53)

The Quraan on Deep Seas and Internal Waves:

Darkness in seas are found at 200 meters of depth and below and light cannot pass 1000 meters below the oceans. Humans cannot dive more than 40 meters below and without modern equipments they cannot reach depth below 200 meters. Yet the glorious Quraan states

Or (the unbelievers' state) is like the darkness in a deep sea. It is covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds. Darknesses, one above another. If a man stretches out his hand, he cannot see it.... (Quran, 24:40)

The Quraan on Clouds:

Modern science have found about different cloud types and how clouds are formed and rains are formed from clouds. Meteorologists have only recently found out about cloud formation structure using satellites, aircrafts and computers. The Quraan states

Have you not seen how God makes the clouds move gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a stack, and then you see the rain come out of it.... (Quran, 24:43)

Quraan also states about hail and lightning

....And He sends down hail from mountains (clouds) in the sky, and He strikes with it whomever He wills, and turns it from whomever He wills. The vivid flash of its lightning nearly blinds the sight. (Quran, 24:43)

Meteorologist also found about the cumulonimbus clouds from which hails are showered to reach a height of 25,000 ft to 30,000 ft (as tall as mountains).

"...And He sends down hail from mountains (clouds) in the sky..."
